Social Work and Community Mental Health
Globalization and technological advances has altered the age-old collectivist social order to an individualistic/ self-centered one, causing an increase in mental health problems among different population groups. Aligning with SDGs the specialisation is designed to provide insights to the graduates on changing landscapes in non-communicable diseases including mental health concerns, programs, policies and innovations from socio-cultural perspective.
Course Format
A student-centered learning approach is followed using a combination of didactic lectures, problem-based learning, role-plays and group exercises to help students understand the complexities and dilemmas in global mental health. Besides classroom instructions, the one-week rural camp, field visits and internships, offer a more practical experience working in an intercultural context.
